Pepper Spray, a little history

Our first line of defense in most cases, other than running like Hell.

Pepper Spray has modest beginnings that are steeped in human history. Anyone who has served remembers their encounter with the gas chamber as part of their basic training. Police Academies today all over the country have their trainee’s experience what pepper spray is like.

The Chinese have been using pepper and spices to throw at their enemies for literally thousands of years.  In 1864 Germans used tear gas for the first time.  Chemical agents have been around for nearly a century. If you have ever gotten pepper in your eyes, you know what an interesting experience it was.

Pepper Spray also works very well against animals with sensitive noses especially bears, mountain lions, and dogs. The U.S. Postal Service has all of its’ carriers carry pepper spray. How is that for an credible endorsement?

Many of the other non lethal self defense products on the market today like steel batons, stun guns, Tasers, pepper sprays, et. al. all gets plenty of free publicity mostly because they save lives and are so effective. Pepper sprays are a favorite of women for personal protection because they are small, effective and easy to carry.

Pepper Spray is legal in all 50 states, however a number of cities and states have restrictions on sizes, strengths, etc.. If you have a question, it is wise to check with you local city or state attorney’s office.

Pepper spray is a weapon. It is strongly recommended that some training or practice take place before actual use. Please note that pepper spray has been known to have no or little effect on people who are on drugs or drunk.

Pepper spray may also have limited impact on aggressive dogs like pit bulls, Dobermans or German Shepherds.

Like all personal protection products the purpose is to give you time to escape or get help not injure or maim. The effects of pepper spray can last as long as 30-45 minutes giving you more than enough time to get away with no lasting damage to the bad guys. Our pepper spray has a UV dye that tags the assailant for easy identification.

Pepper spray is 7 times hotter than a habanera pepper. A squirt of pepper spray in the face will cause the attacker to have shortness of breath, temporary blindness due to excessive tearing and the eyes actually shutting down, coughing and choking. It is very wicked stuff.

If you are looking for an inexpensive, non lethal and effective tool in the fight against crime and a tool for your own personal protection,  It is pepper spray.

Many people make the assumption that because over 12,000 law enforcement agencies throughout the country carry tasers and then when they see one of their local law enforcement officers, carrying a taser that this method of self preservation is condoned by your local government.  Quite possibly, your purchase of a taser can get you in a great deal of trouble, primarily because the use of a taser can be dangerous.  In this litigious society that we live in, laws protect the good and the evil equally.

If they’ve done any research or spoken to anyone who has a taser they’ve learned that indeed they are effective, but they are not cheap. Many people then make the connection that all self-defense items especially for female self-defense, are expensive. That is not the case!

Self-defense items for women have become extremely popular because women are the targets in 9/10 assaults, including and especially, domestic violence.

Here are four of the best cheap self-defense items that are effective not only for female self-defense, but self-defense in general.

1. The first is a key chain panic alarm with flashlight, $10.00.  Combining the two best deterrants against attack – a 130 dB alarm and a flashing light. The alarm is activated when the pin attached to the keychain is pulled or by pressing the alarm button on the top of the unit. It can also be used as a flashlight without activating the alarm to provide additional night time safety

 2. The pepper shot 1/2 ounce with key release pepper spray is $8.95 making it also a cheap self-defense item. It is 2 million Scoville heat units, which is a common measurement of pepper spray “hotness.” It contains a full strength 10% solution of the main pepper spray ingredient oleoresin capsicum and contains five 1 second bursts. It can reach up to 8 feet away. The key ring attachment makes it easy to carry. It has a safety cap to prevent accidental discharge. It is one of the more popular items for women because it is so cheap. AND IT IS MADE IN THE USA!

3. The PRETENDER 4.5 MILLION VOLT CELL PHONE STUN GUN  at $69.00 pretends to be a camera cell phone….but it’s not.  It’s a powerful 4.5 million volt stun gun. This stun gun will really give you he edge  since an attacker will think you are just carrying a cell phone.  It also has a very bright built-in 6 LED flashlight.

4. Remember how the self defense experts would tell you to place your keys between your fingers and punch?  Now there is something more effective.  Carry the HEART ATTACK on your key chain and be ready to protect yourself anytime.  The Heart Attack is small (3.5 inches long) and made of tough plastic.  Hold it between your fingers and punch!  Attackers beware!  $4.95.

Those are four cheap self-defense items that are very popular for female self-defense. You don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to protect your arms and legs.

Taser party

At-home female entrepreneurs are ditching Mary Kay for Tasers, but they’re keeping the pink. Taser International is marketing its user-friendly C2 “personal protector” to the public, and women with an interest in self-defense are holding independent Taser parties in states where the stun gun is legal. “It’s a girl power kind of thing,” said one woman. Critics, however, aren’t so sure.

The company has had a rough time countering bad press, but in 2007 Taser stock climbed from $7.44 to $19.36 a share, the AP reports. Still, living-room Taser trials are making some organizations nervous. “We want to stop violence against women. But we also want to ensure that Tasers don’t end up causing it, too,” said an Amnesty International spokeswoman.

Should you wish to enter into a taser relation with me,  email and I will tell you more about the idea.

Stun gun to the rescue

Tanisha Cross never thought the stun gun she received for Christmas would come in handy so soon.Cross said she was headed to Wal-Mart in Lithonia with her mother when she noticed a DeKalb County police officer being attacked by a suspect.

“I just told my mom pull over, … let’s try to help,” said Cross.

The 20-year-old mother, who received the stun gun as a gift from her husband, said she kept it in a diaper bag. Cross said while others gathered to watch, she sprung into action.

“I went straight for my kid’s diaper bag and I got it and asked it if he [officer] wanted me to do it and he said, ‘Yea,’” said Cross.

Cross said the officer had a hard time defending himself because the attacker had taken the officer’s radio and managed to rub pepper spray in the officer’s face and eyes. Jolting the attacker, Cross’ timing couldn’t have been better. Cross said she stunned the suspect in his arms and legs. Cross said she stunned the attacker to where the officer regained his composure and fought back until a security guard came to their aid.

“He’s brave,” she said. “He did his best to keep him from his gun. He handled the situation very well. I was just glad I could help him,” said Cross.

Cross doesn’t consider herself a hero.

“I’m just a bystander trying to help do the right thing,”

Marathon runner fought and caught intruder:

Although 53 is not old, this blog describes a Florida runner who could have made it easier if she had a personal alarm for safety when on her run.

Florida—“I outran the intruder,” a marathon runner said. “He had no cardiovascular system.”  Before the chase, the 53 old woman – who also has a black belt in karate and who is skilled in kickboxing and kung fu, dragged the 24 year old burglar down from a fence, threw him to the ground, and put her knee to his chest.  The couple had struggled for a few minutes before the man dropped the bag he had taken and started running.  Now right there she could have controlled the situation with our  screecher aerosol alarm emits an ear-piercing blast readily recognized as an emergency call for help. Its high pitched shriek  can be heard up to 1/4 mile away. $9.95 for 10 ounces  and 30 blasts would appear to be an excellent buy for your safety requirements. There are countless other security defense devices available to anyone.  The pepper spray, mace or stun guns are small and convenient for runners or anyone else who wishes to be safe wherever they are.

Karate teaches 10 year old to escape.

No one came to the aid of a 10 year old Boston, Massachusetts boy as he was being dragged from his school by a would-be abductor.  So the boy laid down the “Fist Law,” the literal translation of Kenpo Karate, which he studied for three years.  The kid kicked and shouted as his attacker gripped his arm and dragged him for a quarter of a mile until eventually the boy’s efforts paid off.  The attacker’s grip loosened and the boy could run home. Based on the fact that personal self  defense is something all kids should know something about, I propose that you investigate one of the many DVD’s on instructional fighting.  There’s not an ounce of “Asian Martial Arts” to a system of fighting by one of our authors,  Randall Brown, who discovered his heritage (he’s Cherokee/Apache/Irish) This is nothing but pure, distilled, untouched “Plain Indian” fighting techniques.  Astonishing hand to hand “instant take out” moves that you’ve never seen before,  but it’s what Plain indian braves used everyday to survive in the brutal reality of their daily lives.  Indian Fighting Skills runs for 2 hours and 15 minutes.  Page 34 of my catalogue
